Common problems with cars.

These are things we’ve personally experienced with different makes and models. The purpose of this article is safety, to keep you driving safely in your car.

No car is without regular wear and tear; how it drives and how it’s driven can impact what components. Knowing what to fix can prevent further things from going wrong.

How can you find what you need to fix the car?

1. Google It

Google the make and model of your car to find common problems. Customer reviews, questions, and manufacturer articles. If a high percentage is faulty, there could be a manufacturer recall.

2. Ask your Truman’s Mechanic or Technician

We’ve seen a lot of car makes and models come in, and we’re replacing the same things. If you’re unsure of what makes and models are best, we’ll  help.

Common Issue: Landrover

Land Rover Discovery 1 &  2 have issues with blown head gaskets. Replace the gaskets now as preventative damage.

Common Issue: Chrysler

Vehicles with displacement on demand, where the engine shuts off, have a high chance of failure that damages the engine block.

Common Issues: Ford

2004-2019 Ford F150, 2004-2019 Expedition F250 3 Valve system. Cam phaser issues, timing chain issues, and engine failure. If the oil changes haven’t been kept up, there’s a chance it will need a full engine replacement.

Common Issue: Ferrari

Ferrari’s with 30,000+ miles have timing belt issues.  The Ferrari 430 is a big culprit to problems. The 430 model has issues with the engine mount as well as the timing chain.

Ferrari 2005-2022 models have a brake system recall. Ferrari has brake malfunction recalls on certain models, 430, 450, 456, 348, 355, 360, 550, and other models. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a40818670/ferrari-recall-brake-failure/

Unlike the GM Models, the Ferrari has 2 timing belts, one on the right and the other on the left.

If you know the common issues with a car, you can ask, “Has this part been replaced?” When the answer is no, you can tell them that you’re going to have to assume that cost.

They’re not looking forward to the cost, and oftentimes, you can get the price down by the repair price.
